The Americans is a Cold War drama created by Joe Weisberg that premiered in 2013 and ran for six acclaimed seasons. Set in the early 1980s, it centers on Elizabeth and Philip Jennings, two Soviet agents living undercover in the United States as an ordinary married couple.
Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys star as the Jennings, whose work for the KGB collides constantly with their roles as parents to Paige and Henry and with their uneasy friendship with FBI agent Stan Beeman, played by Noah Emmerich. The series explores loyalty, identity, and the cost of living a lie, weaving espionage operations together with the domestic tensions of a family that can never be fully honest with itself.
Critics and viewers have long regarded The Americans as one of the strongest television dramas of the 2010s, praised for its restrained storytelling and the chemistry between its leads. Collectors value the complete series for the way its six seasons build toward a considered conclusion, making the full run a rewarding addition to any serious television library.
