Foundation: Season 1 (2021) 2-Disc Set Blu-ray

Foundation made its debut in 2021 as an adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s genre-defining novels, introducing audiences to a far-future galaxy ruled by a long-standing Empire. At the centre of the story is Hari Seldon, a mathematician whose theory of psychohistory predicts the imminent decline of civilisation and inspires a plan to soften the coming dark age.

The first season establishes the show’s vast canvas, moving between the corridors of imperial power, the exiled community of the Foundation, and the outer reaches where resistance takes shape. Jared Harris and Lee Pace lead a cast that brings intellectual depth and emotional weight to questions about fate, governance, and the resilience of knowledge. The production’s scale and design set a new standard for televised science fiction.

Viewers drawn to thoughtful, large-scale genre storytelling will find this opening season an essential starting point. It lays the groundwork for the series’ continuing narrative and rewards collectors who want to follow the saga from the beginning.
