Mr Inbetween is an Australian crime series created by and starring Scott Ryan, following a contract killer who tries to maintain a normal life while working in the criminal underworld. The complete series comprises three seasons of tightly written, character-driven storytelling.
Ray Shoesmith’s life is divided between his responsibilities as a father, ex-partner, and friend, and the violence that defines his profession. The show navigates this duality with dark humor and a matter-of-fact tone, refusing to romanticize its subject while still finding moments of genuine warmth. Ryan’s performance grounds every episode in a quiet, believable realism.
Fans of crime dramas that prioritize character over spectacle will find the complete series rewarding. It is a distinctive, well-crafted work that stands among the best of recent Australian television.
