Murderbot: Season 1 (2025) 2-Disc Set Blu-ray

Murderbot adapts Martha Wells’ popular science fiction novellas for television, introducing viewers to a security android that has secretly overridden its own governor module. Free from the constraints of its programming, the protagonist would prefer to be left alone with its entertainment feeds, but circumstances repeatedly draw it into the affairs of the humans around it.

The series combines fast-paced action with a dry, observational humour that sets it apart from more conventional science fiction. Its central character’s struggle to understand emotions, loyalty, and personhood gives the story a surprising warmth beneath its sarcastic surface. The adaptation has been praised for capturing the voice that made Wells’ books so beloved.

Fans of the original stories and newcomers alike will appreciate this first season as an introduction to one of modern science fiction’s most memorable characters. It is a strong addition to any collection of contemporary genre television.
