NCIS: Origins is a prequel series that rewinds the clock to 1991, following a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs as he joins the newly established NCIS office at Camp Pendleton. The show introduces a younger, more vulnerable version of the character made famous by Mark Harmon, exploring the formative years that set him on the path to becoming a legendary special agent.
Across its first two seasons, the series balances case-of-the-week investigations with the personal history of its protagonist, including the loss that haunts him and the colleagues who become his surrogate family. The writing honors the tone of the parent franchise while carving out a distinct identity rooted in early-1990s nostalgia and character-driven storytelling.
Fans of the NCIS universe value this release as a chance to see the origins of a beloved character portrayed with depth and nuance. Collectors who follow the franchise appreciate having the complete early chapters gathered together, making it a natural addition to any crime-drama library.
