Wednesday is a supernatural comedy-mystery series created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, with Tim Burton serving as an executive producer and director on the show’s early episodes. Jenna Ortega plays Wednesday Addams, the eldest child of the Addams Family, sent to Nevermore Academy after an incident at her previous school.
At Nevermore, Wednesday is surrounded by outcasts with unusual abilities, including her roommate Enid Sinclair, played by Emma Myers. As she settles into the school, she is drawn into a mystery involving local deaths and the history of the town of Jericho, all while developing the psychic visions that run in her family. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán appear as Morticia and Gomez Addams, grounding the series in its famous lineage while pushing it toward a younger, darker tone.
The series became one of the most talked-about releases of its time, thanks in large part to Ortega’s performance and the show’s distinctive gothic visual style. Viewers who enjoy mystery-driven fantasy with a strong central character will find the collected seasons an appealing way to follow Wednesday’s story from her arrival at Nevermore onward.
