$34.16
The Bernie Mac Show stars comedian Bernie Mac as a version of himself, a successful stand-up who suddenly becomes the guardian of his sister’s three children. The series draws humour from the clash between his established life and the demands of parenting, with Mac’s direct address to the audience giving the show its distinctive voice. Across five seasons, the sitcom balances sharp comedy with genuine warmth as the family adjusts to one another. It remains a memorable example of a stand-up comedian’s transition to a long-running television role.

The Bernie Mac Show centres on Bernie Mac playing a fictionalised version of himself, a comedian whose life is turned upside down when he takes in his sister’s three children. The series finds comedy in the friction between his career, his marriage, and the realities of raising a family he did not plan for.
Across its five seasons, the show develops its household dynamics with a mix of sharp one-liners and moments of real affection. Bernie’s direct addresses to the audience became a signature device, letting the character comment on the chaos around him while keeping the focus on the family at the heart of the story.
For fans of sitcoms and of Bernie Mac’s stand-up work, this complete collection captures the full run of a series that balanced laughter with an unexpectedly tender view of family life.
